Ruth is a qualified gynaecologist, with expertise in urogynaecology and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
Ruth gained her medical degree from Monash University in 2009, graduating with Honours. After completing her internship and residency at the Alfred Hospital, she went on to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology, with her formal training completed primarily at the Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) in Melbourne. Ruth also spent time working in regional and rural Victoria, including rotations in Geelong and Warrnambool.
Pelvic floor medicine became an area of interest for Ruth during her final years of specialty training at RWH and Sunshine Hospital. In 2018, she was accepted into further accredited sub-specialty training in urogynaecology at RWH. She completed these additional three years of clinical training through both RWH and The Mercy Hospital for Women.
Ruth is actively involved in clinical and non-clinical research, and has a keen interest in teaching medical students and junior doctors. She is a member of the Urogynaecology Society of Australasia as well as the International Urogynaecology Association and International Continence Society.
Ruth enjoys caring for women over many life stages. She provides care for women with pelvic floor conditions such as prolapse and urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, and bladder pain syndrome. Ruth offers comprehensive assessment and treatment services including urodynamic testing, pessary fitting, and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
In her spare time, Ruth loves to listen to music and explore Melbourne with her husband and two sons.
Ruth operates privately at Frances Perry House, Epworth Freemasons and Sunshine Private Hospital, and in 2023 will commence a public appointment at one of Victoria’s leading women’s hospitals.
