Gynaecological oncology is a sub-specialty area of gynaecology, which focuses on management of cancers of the female reproductive tract (eg. ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, cervical cancer, and vulval cancer). This management often requires a multi-disciplinary approach, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and/or surgery. The appropriate surgery may use either a laparoscopic (keyhole) or laparotomic (open) approach, to excise (cut out) the cancerous organ(s) and associated lymph nodes.
Maven Centre’s Dr Nive Rajadevan has completed the rigorous three year training program to become a sub-specialist consultant gynaecological oncologist. She completed her training in both Melbourne and Auckland, and enjoys offering her expertise to the women of Melbourne’s western corridor.
